One of the reasons for red infarctions is double blood supply. How can an infarction even occur if there is an extra blood supply to take over and supply the area?

Hej,
Mvh Marie |
Dear all
I have a question regarding P038. In this section of thrombosis we have a distinct reddish hue . In our lectures (SAU24) we were told that fibrin is dyed in red and erytrocytes are dyed in white. However the annotations point to the red colour and point out that it is erytrocytes. Furthermore the stribes of Zahn are virtually nonexisting which implies that fibrin might be difficult to find. In addition this is a thrombosis in a vein which means that there are many cells relative to fibrin.
I there ask the question: Why is the red colour in P038 due to fibrin and NOT erytrocytes?
yours sincerely
Johan
Hello!
Can one of you explain when fibrinoid necrosis occurs and how this presents itself in the microscope?
Thank you!

Hej
Hilsen Dorte
In the necrotic form of cell death does the plasma membrane rupture or does it stay intact?
We ask because we have found a multiple choice question where rupture of the cell membrane isn’t one of the characteristics of necrosis.

MEN i figur 2.2 i Robbins et al. “Basic pathology” 2013 samt figur 2.1 fremhæver bogen at: “Acute inflammation is rapid in onset and of short duration, lasting from a few minutes to as long as a few days, and is characterized by fluid and plasma protein exudation and a predominantly neutrophilic leukocyte accumulation”.
Johan

Regarding atherosclerosis, are the LDL molecules oxidized before or after they are phagocytized by the macrophage? Is it ROS’s in the irritated/weakened vessel wall which oxidize the LDL’s? Is the oxidizing of the LDL’s some sort of opsonization, to enhance the phagocytizing process by the macrophages, or is it just an unwanted process? Thank you for the good education!
