One thought on “What gives pus its yellow color?

  1. Pus consists of protein-rich fluid and dead inflammatory cells (mainly neutrophils) and is usually whitish-yellow. However, the color can vary depending on the content – e.g. it can be more greenish if the anti-bacterial protein myeloperioxidase is present, or green and smelly in infections of certain bacteria (due to bacterial pigment).
